About Us

As the campsite was constructed to fit the African style, we aim to bring this experience to life for all of our guests while still maintaining high standard accommodations for better comfort in the wild. For our wildlife lovers especially, it is designed in such a way whereby the open atmosphere does not interrupt our nearby wildlife and rather makes our connection with them stronger. At Grumeti Migration Camp we strive to provide our guests with pleasurable and memorable experiences throughout their stay with sensational activities including game drives, sundowners, balloon safaris and many more; all with the help of our friendly staff. As the Grumeti River flows just behind the campsite, animals are sure to be seen nearby the camp throughout the year exceptionally – device screens are no match against the astonishing game that visits the lodge area and captures the attention of many.

Mission

At Grumeti Migration Camp we strive to provide our guests with the most authentic African experience possible alongside the great comforts of home which we emphasise especially. We focus on the needs of our guests and hope to share with them the magic which is held within Serengeti. From our variety of engaging activities to our welcoming facilities,  our mission begins with you.

Vision

Our vision for the future of Grumeti Migration Camp is to be able to spread our branches past the Serengeti land and further throughout Africa to accommodate our guests in more of their travels and give them the experience of a lifetime. We envision a growth in the number of our camps and and an even larger count in our Safari journeys –  all to expose our guests to the beauty and extraordinary life of Africa.

Conservation Africa

Conservation in Africa has changed radically since the turn of the 20th century when most of the signature wildlife conservancies on the continent were established. At that time the philosophy simply involved the exclusion of any kind of human encroachment or activity over vast areas of national parks or wildlife reserves, regardless of the hardships inflicted and the general hostility felt by local people towards the various parks management authorities. In recent years human population pressure against vital wildlife conservancies has become acute; too acute to ignore. From this has evolved a conservation policy over much of Africa that seeks to balance the needs of wildlife and humanity in a manner that can be beneficial to both.

Grumeti Migration Camp Conservation Policy

A core feature of the Grumeti Migration Camp conservation policy is the recognition that local communities will resist any persuasion to contribute to the preservation of wildlife without tangible financial reasons. Local people are faced with two options: the direct exploitation of the environment through deforestation and hunting or benefiting indirectly from revenues accrued from tourism. At Grumeti Migration Camp we:

          • Make use of local guiding staff to contribute the unique bank of knowledge available within the               local community.

          • Foster the regeneration of local cultural heritage by incorporating local cultural lore into our                    community guiding.

           • Offer employment to local people in preference to outsiders.

           • Contribute a percentage of earning to specific community projects.

Beyond this the Grumeti conservation holds some of the most captivating and interesting stories about the different tribes, their issues (this including the event in which the Ikoma people, better known as Waikomas, had left Serengeti to avoid the Maasai raids in the past)  and where they stayed.
